Our early years

The history of F. P. Gaunt & Sons started in 1900 by Percy Gaunt with the help of his Father Decimus. Percy, a carpenter by trade, was asked to make a coffin for a friend. He rose to the challenge in the hay loft of the Old Bush Public House on Powke Lane which had been in the family for 200 years. From here the Gaunt dynasty was born and the independent family funeral directors we are today began. Percy moved to our current location on High Street in Blackheath in 1910 and established the highly regarded funeral home, Percival House.

Our later years

Percival House has undergone major refurbishment over the years, striving to serve the funeral needs of Blackheath and the surrounding communities with their bespoke funeral home and its dedicated staff.

F. P. Gaunt & Sons today

The independent family owned Funeral Directors is under the attention of Heidi and her Husband Darren, semi-retired Peter Gaunt and two of his Grandsons Sam and Jake Gaunt who are the 6th Generation to join the company. We pride ourselves on the personal service we are able to give and our ability to make arrangements to suit every requirement and budget. We are members of The National Association of Funeral Directors, The British Institute of Embalmers and Selected Independent Funeral Homes by invitation.
